- Lyon has done several speaking engagements for women’s organizations, including the Lakes Area Women’s Society of Lake Geneva, WI.
- Her speech “The Sacrifices Women Make” reveals her personal story: How she supported a husband through undergraduate, graduate school, and then medical school. She delves into the subject of why women abandon their dreams or never really find out what they are. She discusses how women can discover their dreams, reclaim their dreams, and make an action plan to accomplish their dreams. Then she relates this topic to her current novel, and discusses how all of her future fiction will chronicle the lives of women who have in some way made sacrifices or lost their way.
- Lyon speaks for free and also donates a portion of the resulting book sale profits to the organization.
